this session started off as a sort of comedy of errors. just a half hour into our first session, the dad and i were both stung by bees, despite being warned by the little boy that there was a bee nest in the tree we were standing next to! then the other little boy took a tumble. we were done and decided to try again a few days later. when we arrived at our first location, we were swarmed with mosquitos. holy wow, i’ve never seen so many. we decided to try another cedarburg park and thankfully the mosquitos left us alone. but these images are totally worth the trouble![]()

one of the things i love most about my job in general is being able to watch so many families grow over the years. when families choose the year in the life collection, we do four photography sessions over a year (or so) and it all culminates in a beautiful book at the end telling the whole store. this little dude was photographed for the first time while still in his mama’s belly, then again as a wee little itty bitty newborn. and now look at him! seven months old!

twins! these little ones were such angels for me. look how peaceful they are!

once again, behind in blogging
truth is, it’s summertime and i’m soaking up every last bit of sunshine! so when i’m not shooting or editing, the girls and i are outside playing, gardening, swimming, splashing and mastering the monkey bars. blogging hit the back burner!
besides the sunshine and gorgeous weather, summer brings me lots and lots of itty bitty teeny tiny newborns. i’ve spent time with several newborn families these past few weeks and i just can’t get enough of the sweetness and newness, the newborn smell, the joy in the eyes of the parents. love!
just look!

i love photographing babies in their homes. it’s so cozy and each image holds such meaning and will bring back so many beautiful memories when the stuffed animals are up on a shelf and the crib is packed away.

i had SO much fun photographing this beautiful family. their two spunky girls reminded me so much of my own! we walked and talked and explored for an hour and i have too many favorites to even count!

a few weeks ago, i spent a saturday morning in glencoe, photographing these brothers. i love the moody, cloudy light and quietness of the images.

remember this beautiful maternity photo session? meet baby chloe! she was awesome, so sleepy and so sweet and even while awake, just so very calm!

a couple of years ago, through the wonders of facebook, i was able to reconnect with one of my most very favorite high school girlfriends, keri. her older (but by just one year) sister mindy was my bff and we were pretty inseparable throughout all four years of high school. i’m pretty sure i slept at their house as much (if not more) than i slept at my own. we got into so much trouble together! oh my gosh, i’m giggling just thinking about it. anyway, we tried to keep in touch when i moved from st. louis to milwaukee but time got away from us. we found each other on facebook a couple of years ago and rekindled a wonderful friendship.
over memorial day, mark and i took the girls back to st louis for a graduation party and i was finally able to do a family portrait session for keri, benji and their five incredible children. we’ve visited often over the past two years but a session just didn’t work out until this trip.
(fair warning: there are a TON of images in this post!)
aren’t they such a beautiful family? their love and affection for each other is tangible and contagious.

i had so much fun with this family! i met them on their family farm just north of milwaukee and we played, played, played. so many fun buildings and landscapes – i could have photographed all day!

i met this amazing family a couple of years ago when will was just a toddler. i’ve had the honor of photographing them many times since then, watching will grow into an amazing and funny little boy (he calls me christmas!) and watching caroline grow from a hope and a dream into a spunky little toddler herself. i dare say that they’ve become one of my favorite families to photograph![]()

i first met this awesome family 2 1/2 years ago when there were only four. they recently visited the studio for updated family photos now that they’ve added little miss stella to the mix![]()
