this little newborn did NOT want to sleep for me, she just wanted mama. we tried again the next day and after an hour of rocking, nursing, shushing and soothing, she finally fell into a slumber. isn’t she perfect in every day?

one last batch of images from portrait day! eron photographed the kiddos on sunday, as i ended up in urgent care on saturday night with a corneal abrasion (i.e. a big scratch on my eyeball). eron rocks, as you can see:

here are some favorites from saturday!

our portrait day weekend is well under way and we are having SO MUCH FUN! eron rocked out on day one, creating some amazingly fun and sweet images of so many kiddos! here are a few from friday.

we had so many fun kids yesterday and today, too. i’m working on selecting yesterday’s images and it’s been so fun seeing the images come through from today!
this little dude’s dad and i have been friends for …. 14 years? we both grew up in st louis and ended up within 40 minutes of each other as adults – i’m in milwaukee and he’s in gurnee. he and his awesome wife just welcomed their second baby, dylan, into their family. isn’t he perfect?

we can’t forget big sister jordan![]()

i had the pleasure of spending a couple of hours with sweet baby meryl and her adoring parents last week. what an amazing family and such a beautiful, beautiful little girl.

please join us for two days of complimentary sessions at the beautiful bay view studio! we will be hosting this event on saturday and sunday, april 24 and 25. this is a great opportunity for father’s day gifts, as prints will be ready for pickup in early june.
you can register for this event online by visiting the following link:

here are some cutie images from our last event!

good morning! i hope everyone is enjoying their weekends. i went outside for a bit this morning and was happy to discover some nicer weather than what we’ve had these past few days. unfortunately my little ellie is sick, so i suspect we’ll spend the day on the couch. which actually sounds sort of nice. i can’t be the only mom who secretly doesn’t mind so much when their too-busy-for-snuggling child wants nothing more than to curl up and snuggle in? heaven (except for the croupy cough of course)!
so, on to more exciting things!
~ i am looking for one or two pregnant women for a fun little maternity photography project i’m working on. if you (or someone you know) are 30+ weeks pregnant and love the idea of modeling for some stylish, modern maternity portraits, please email me with the following information:
in exchange for your time, we’ll provide you with a really, really fun maternity session and a small collection of images for you to keep. call or email with any questions!
~ last but not least, portrait day will be back this spring! it will never be the same without freckle face, but due to it’s popularity (and how much fun it is!) we’ll be offering two days of complimentary mini sessions on april 24 and 25 at the bay view studio. as soon as we put the finishing touches on the online registration, we’ll send an email out. can’t wait to see everyone again!
~ here’s my little ellie, last week, showing off her liberty of london dress (i TOLD you i love target!), before she started feeling yucky. see what i mean about being too busy to snuggle with mama?

we are all a bit giddy today. tt’s warm. it’s sunny. a bunch of us all showed up to work wearing practically the same color. and we to top it off, we are excited that Liberty of London has landed at target. i have a serious love for target – who doesn’t?
so, we thought… why not share the joy. comment with your guess as to what color we’re all wearing, and the we will send a set of frames to whomever guesses correctly first.
aren’t they pretty?

once again, i find myself woefully behind on blog posting. i think it’s the cold weather slowing me down
it’s been a super busy month and i have so many amazing images to share with you, but i’m heading out of town again – this time to las vegas for a photography convention!
i spent last week on the beautiful beaches of puerto rico with one of my favorite clients ever, documenting their vacation. we had so much fun and captured so many amazing images. here are a few non-people images that i took to remind me of the beauty surrounding us and most of all, the WARMTH. ooooooooh sunshine, how i love thee.

as so many of you already know, our dear friend and downstairs neighbor freckle face has closed it’s doors – the same doors they threw open for us four years ago when we held our very first portrait day. we could not have reached out to so many of you without their support in the years since.
the third ward studio located at 244 n broadway will remain open by appointment only. our bayview studio, front room photography, is open tuesday-friday, 9-5, and is located at 2637 south kinnickinnic avenue (next to honey pie -yum!). you can reach the third ward studio via phone at 414.271.1211 and the bayview studio at 414.294.0080.

on a personal note, i am so very thankful to deanna for believing in me when my business was so young and unrefined. i’ve learned so much from her and will be forever grateful for what she’s given me: support, encouragement, opportunities, knowledge and hope. without her example to aspire to, i don’t think i would have dreamed as big as i did and without that dream, i wouldn’t be where i am. so thank you, deanna. for everything.
ok, so i’m a couple of months behind in posting this session but i just couldn’t skip it. this little guy is on his third Year In The Life session — i’ve loved every sesson so much!! i first met him back in february and i’m so excited to see him for his one year photos next week!
check out his newborn photos here!

i’ve been photographing this family for years, even after they moved from milwaukee to chicago! i can’t believe how big these babies are getting.
this family photo session happened in late fall, with that yummy golden light that i love so much. just looking at these photos warms me up!

when i opened this studio in milwaukee’s third ward two summers ago, i wondered if i’d get bored shooting in an urban session. the answer is NO. i LOVE urban family photos, especially around the studio. we have so many awesome nooks and crannies, it’s like a treasure hunt.
