when i opened this studio in milwaukee’s third ward two summers ago, i wondered if i’d get bored shooting in an urban session. the answer is NO. i LOVE urban family photos, especially around the studio. we have so many awesome nooks and crannies, it’s like a treasure hunt.
as usual, when i’m swamped with sessions, i neglect my little blog. i’m working on getting caught up!
a few weeks ago, neil shot this family and created some amazing images! i love his fresh take on family portraits. it was such a fun urban family photo session, in the best location ever: milwaukee’s third ward!

after two rescheduled sessions thanks to rain, we were finally able to make this fun family session happen! this family traveled from hartland to milwaukee for an awesome outdoor family photo session. lots of playing, scootering, catching and laughing!
I had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful family last week. We walked around the streets and alleys of Milwaukee’s Third Ward near my studio and got some outstanding and super sweet shots of these three wonderful children. I think the portraits speak better about this session than I possibly could, so without delay…
i was recently lucky enough to photograph these gorgeous children at their home in brookfield. we had so much fun playing together inside and outside! i’m excited for their next session at the beach!
i love love love when clients choose the year in the life collection! it’s 3-4 sessions over the course of a year and i love how well i get to know the family and the children in that time. after the last session, we all sit down and go over all of the images and work on designing an amazing coffee table book that chronicles the year. it’s great to lay out the images and see how much the family has changed.
a lot of families choose this option as a baby’s first year photo plan, but lots of other families take the opportunity to do four different concept sessions. one outside (at a park, in their backyard, an urban session in the third ward), a documentary-style session at home, a birthday party, a cookie decorating day, a pajama party, whatever. i love seeing how creative everyone gets!
here is a sweet little bub that is so cute i want to eat him up. this is his third session in the year in the life collection. we photographed him when he was still cozied up in his mama’s belly, and again when he was a teeny tiny delicious newborn. now look how big he’s getting!
